Star of the movie Ben Affleck has been making the press rounds in support of Gone Girl, and he's dropped a few hints about the movie along the way. Talking with MTV, he addresses the Frank Miller inspiration apparent in the film.
Ben Affleck doesn't think Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the only movie to be affected or influenced by Frank Miller's work. He believes that all of the movies that have come in its wake have, in some way, played off those aspects apparent in The Dark Knight Returns.
Before answering the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice question, though, he does try to point the conversation back towards Gone Girl before saying a few words about his highly anticipated comic book movie:
"Yeah, I don't want to answer too many Batman questions because it is a Gone Girl thing, but I will say that I think Zack [Snyder] was heavily influenced by that. I think everyone's heavily influenced by that...that's the seminal work. So, I don't think that there's any of these which have been made that haven't drawn from that book because it's so good. So, you know, I think if you're smart you steal from the best. That's why I'm going to rip David [Fincher] off from now on everywhere I go!"
When Ben Affleck is asked to do his Batman voice, the actor flat out refuses, claiming that's something we'll have to pay to see:
