'Daredevil' Will Not Immediately Connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

During his promotional tour for Guardians of the Galaxy in London, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige offered a brief update on Marvel's Daredevil, the new TV series that is currently in production and will debut on Netflix next year. While he wouldn't divulge any specific plot details, Kevin Feige did reveal that the producers aren't planning on linking the show to the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet, although that may happen in the future.

"I think they're being very smart about that, approaching the shows the way we approach movies, which is to focus on the core project, make sure it's as great as it can be, beginning, middle, and end. Then they see if there are places where it makes sense for some interweaving of continuity. Right now, their goal, and they're in production on the Daredevil series, is focusing on making it the best incarnation of Daredevil that has ever existed."

Marvel's Joe Quesada also confirmed in April that all of the shows are set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but, for now, it seems that Marvel's Daredevil will start off as a stand alone series before connecting with the MCU.

When Marvel and Netflix first announced the Marvel's Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones TV shows, many fans believed that they would eventually find their way onto the big screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at some point, especially after Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed last November that movies based on these characters still may happen.
